1. Operating Principle and Key Features

  • What Is a Self-Lubricating Bearing, and How Does It Work?
  • What Is the Difference Between a Bronze and an Iron Bed? While sintered bronze bearings are preferred in environments where corrosion resistance is critical, sintered iron bearings offer a more economical alternative in enclosed systems that are not exposed to moisture or rust.

2. Shaft Design and Proper Installation

  • What Should the Ideal Surface and Hardness of a Mill Be? For a long-lasting bearing, the shaft hardness must be at least 50 HRC. The surface should not be so rough as to disrupt the oil film, nor so mirror-like that it cannot retain oil; therefore, ground surfaces provide the best results.
  • What Are the Assembly and Tolerance Criteria? The H7 tolerance, which ensures controlled installation in standard bearing housings, should be used. Installation must never be performed by striking with a hammer; instead, it must be done using a controlled press-fit method in which force is applied only to the outer diameter. Impact installation closes the pores in the part, thereby eliminating lubrication performance.

3. Lubrication Performance and Service Life

  • What Factors Determine Service Life? Operating temperature (ideally between -65°C and +200°C), applied load, rotational speed, and the selection of the correct lubricant directly affect service life. Bearings that typically last up to 2,000 hours in standard systems can exceed 5,000 hours with additional lubrication or oil recirculation.
  • Why Are Oil Loss and Solid Lubricants (Graphite) Important? Toplam yağ rezervinin %40’ı kaybedildiğinde yatak işlevini yitirmeye başlar. Geleneksel sıvı/mineral yağların dayanamadığı 300°C gibi ekstrem sıcaklıklarda veya yüksek sürtünme şartlarında, malzeme yapısına eklenen “grafit” gibi katı kayganlaştırıcılar devreye girerek parça ömrünü korur.

4. Industry Advantages and Areas of Application

  • Why Are These Beds So Popular? Their designs, which require no external maintenance or lubrication; their ultra-quiet operation; their ability to be manufactured with tight tolerances (calibrated as needed); and the significant cost advantage they offer for high-volume orders are the main reasons they are preferred.
  • In Which Industries Is It Used? It is safely used in electric motors, industrial fans, pumps, gearboxes, agricultural machinery, automotive drivetrains, and home appliances—where regular lubrication is difficult or undesirable.
